Peelable Edgebond Shims for Aerospace, High-Tech and Mechanical Applications

Edgebond shims differ from full-face bond laminated shims in that they are only bonded on the edge (usually the outside edge).  These edgebond parts offer the flexibility of peeling layers to suit tolerances.  "Peeled" layers of material can be re-used as a single shim, which is not the case in laminated shims.  Edgebond parts are widely used in aerospace and defense industries because the glue specified dissipates in heat so will not interfere with working engine parts such as gear boxes.  The process of manufacture is that each layer is machined and then manually bonded together on one edge.

Edgebond shims are made from Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Steel, Copper, Brass, Titanium, in most alloys and tempers.


Raw material supplied is always DFARS, and complete Mill Test Reports are available with all our products.
